Why we built Palepage

Most journaling apps are built to keep everything, forever, searchable. Palepage is built to do the opposite: you write down the thing you can't put down, leave it on a page, and time — real, elapsed time — fades the ink. The words that matter least go first. The one line you choose to keep fades last of all.

That's not a limitation. It's the point.

Writing is the release, not the record

A lot of the value in writing something down happens in the writing itself — the moment you turn a feeling into words. Keeping that record forever, searchable and re-readable at 2am, can turn a release into a rumination loop. Palepage lets the act of writing do its work, then gets out of the way.

Private by construction, not by policy

There's no account and no server that sees your letters. Everything lives on your device, encrypted at rest if you choose a passphrase. We can't read your archive, and neither can anyone else — not because of a promise, but because there's no pipe for it to travel through.

Not therapy, and we say so

Palepage is a light place to set things down, not a substitute for professional care. If something you're carrying feels heavier than a page can hold, the app's Care section links straight to real, confidential helplines — no detour through a settings menu.
